1. ACTION ALERT Act now to save the Bioheat Credit in NY! Your invention is urgently needed now.

The Bioheat Alternative Fuel Credit is in serious jeopardy of being "vetoed" by Governor Spitzer due to fiscal concerns raised by the New York State Department of Taxation & Finance as it relates to the $13,000,000 Energy Star component of the legislation. Governor Spitzer received this legislation on Friday and has until Wednesday, August 15th to either veto or sign the bill into law.

Empire State Petroleum Association's Lobbyist, Brian Lucey, wrote: “The fiscal impact of the legislation coupled with the fact that it was passed outside of the budget present significant obstacles to the tax credit getting extended. We hear that the Division is weighing in heavily against the legislation. To counter the fiscal concerns, we need to demonstrate the critical importance of the legislation to the adoption of bioheat here in New York. In that regard, if you can get other interested parties to weigh in support of the legislation that would be very helpful. The Governor has until next Wednesday the 15th to sign or veto the legislation.”

The legislation's "penny per percent of biodiesel" tax credit provides a cost effective way in which to improve New York State's air quality; reduce the nation's dependence of foreign oil; creates a partnership with New York State's farming communities, and encourages the industry to invest in the required infrastructure changes.
